The Economist has come out fighting for the rights of expats to vote even when they have lived abroad for more than 15 years.
It tells the tale of old soldier Harry Shindler who has lived in Italy for 30 years and is campaigning for the right to vote back home in Britain. “I fought a war for people in Europe to have the vote—and we won!” he says – and now he can’t vote.
