“Boris spoke to a packed British Chamber of Commerce lunch in Hong Kong today about the huge benefits of increasing UK trade and dialogue with China and Hong Kong. The five hundred strong crowd – which sold out in less than 24 hours – was treated to Boris’ opinions on genuinely Conservative values such as free trade, infrastructure building and the nurturing of businesses both large and small. He was particularly strident about the need to removing impediments to Anglo-Chinese business. “Tell me what is stopping London and the UK trading more with Hong Kong and China and when we get home we will break down these barriers!” Needless to say this was highly appreciated by the audience.
Sam Olsen, Chairman of Conservatives Abroad in Hong Kong, praised Boris’ efforts at bringing London and Hong Kong closer together. “These two great world cities have much to discuss on how to continue to raise the living standards of their inhabitants, and it is good news that Boris is taking the initiative to foster a dialogue that will prove highly beneficial to both”.
With rumours flying that the Kowloon Bus Company is about to purchase a fleet of the Boris-inspired new Routemaster double decker buses that are now whirring through London, there could soon be even more connections between these two cities."
