Today the Government has taken the first step in delivering its manifesto commitment to restore the franchise to all Britain's living abroad, putting Britain back on an equal footing with virtually every other major democracy worldwide.
Ever since Labour imposed its iniquitous "fifteen-year rule", depriving millions of British citizens of their vote, Conservatives Abroad have been campaigning to give back to British citizens their right to vote. We warmly welcome the Government's commitment today to bring forward the legislation in this Parliament and thank each and everyone who has campaigned over the years to achieve this especially WW2 veteran Harry Shindler MBE.
