Sir James Spicer, former Conservative MP for West Dorset and former Chairman of Conservatives Abroad, has died at the age of 89.
This is from his obituary in The Times
“He became vice-chairman of the Conservative Party, chairman of the Westminster foundation for Democracy and chairman of Conservatives Abroad, the organisation dedicated to enrolling party supporters among expatriates. He “signed-up” 36,000 Conservative voters and established a healthy worldwide network of branches, visiting them with the likes of Denis Thatcher and Jeffrey Archer to raise both votes and money, and campaigned successfully to have the franchise extended to those who had lived abroad for 25 years”.
We at Conservatives Abroad mourn his loss and will ever be grateful for all his hard work
